The business done has been half-yearly meeting of shareholders on the 16th chiefly in preparation for the settlement at the August-transfer books of the corporation will end of this month. We note a heavy fall in Dock be closed from the 2nd to the 16th August in- shares. Marine Insurance.-Unions are wanted clusive. Lands.-Shanghai Land Investment shares are weak with sellers. Industrial.-The Shanghai Gas Co. will pay an interim dividend of 6 per cent. on the 25th current. Shares are wanted. Ewo Cotton Mill shares were sold at Tls. 42, and Shanghai Pulp and Paper shares at Tls. 117 for the 31st current. Shanghai Ice shares are offer ing. Tugs and Cargo Boats-Shanghai Tug Boat shares were sold at Tls. 200, and Shanghai Cargo Boat share at Tls. 135. The latter are wanted. Miscellaneous. Shanghai Waterworks Co. has declared an interim dividend of £0.15.0. per share payable on the 24th current at exchange 2.4. The hanghai-Sumatra Tobacco Co. Shares were sold at Tls. 45. An interim dividend of 10 per cent. will be paid on the 7th August. Shang- hai-Langkat Tobacco Co. shares were sold at Tis, 260/250 cash, 255/250 for July and 2074 for Sep- tember. Shanghai, 23rd July (from Messrs. J. P. Bissat & Co.'s Report). A large business has been done in Dock shares, but, with exception of sales of Indo-China shares for settlement, other stocks have been rather quiet. Marine Insurance.- Yangtszes are offering at $130. North Chinas were placed at Tls. 190. Shipping. -Indo-China S. N. Co. Cash shares were sold at Tls. 70 to Tls. 65, and business was done for the July settlement at Tls. 72 to 66, closing at 671. Shares were sold for October at Tis. 73. Sugars.-Perak Sugar Cultivation shares were placed at Tla. 777. Sugar Refining shares are unchanged. Mining.-Chinese Engineering and Mining shares were placed for July delivery at Tls. 9.30. Docks, Wharves and godowns.-S. C. Farnham, Boyd and Co. The Directors' report and statement of accounts for the year ending April 30th were presented and passed at the meeting of shareholders held on the 21st inst. The year's working showed a profit of Tls. 1,697,136.56, equal to 30.75 per cent. on the capital, as against 26.65 per cent in. the previous year. The balance available for dis- tribution after deducting interim dividend of 7 per cent. paid in January, is Tls. 1,362,153.30, which has been appropriated by carrying Tls. 750,000 to reserve fund, paying a final dividend for the year at 10 per cent. (making 14 per cent. for the year) and carrying forward to new ac- count Tls. 60,150.32. At the above meeting a resolution was passed to enable the directors to call an extraordinary meeting, at which it will be proposed to reduce the capital of the Company by 25 per cent. making shares Tls. 100, the amount of share capital thus written down to be replaced by the issue of 7 per cent, debentures, shareholders to have the option of taking debentures or cash for the returned capital, A large business was done at Tls: 2021 to 215 cash, 25 to 215 for July, and 217 to 225 for October, all cum div. The dividend was paid. on the 22nd, and shares changed hands ex div. at 205/200′ cash ́and 21 for September. Shanghai and Hongkew Wharf Co. shares were sold at Tls. 285/282). Lands.-Shanghai Land Invest- ment Co. Shares were sold at Tls. 120 cum diy and new issue. The dividend of 6 per cent. for the half year to 30th July was paid on the 22nd, and we quote the closing rate as Tls. 117 ex div. Industrial.—The Shanghai Gas Co. will pay an interim dividend of 6 per cent on the 25th current. Shares were placed at Tls. 120. Shanghai Ice shares were sold at Tls. 27 cash, and Shanghai Pulp and Paper shares at Tls. 112 for July. Tugs and Cargo Boats.-Cargo Boat shares are wanted, bat no business is reported.
