HONGKONG, 18th August.-The volumn of busi- ness transacted during the period under review is about the same as that of the preceding fort-
night Saigon to Hongkong, 22 cents per picul has been paid for prompt steamer and more tonnage is wanted at 211, cents per picul; to one Fort Philippines, 38 cents per picul; to one port north coast Java, 31 cents per picul is obtainable. Java to Hongkong, 25 cents per picul for dry
sugar, and 40 cents per picul last. Newchwang to Canton, 33 cents per picul has been paid. Moji to Hongkong, $2.30; to Singapore, $3 per ton.
