According to a Soochow despatch received in Shanghai, Governor Nieh Chi-kuci has been ordered to supersede H.E. Lo Feng-lu as Chinese Ambassador in London.

Our London correspondent telegraphed on the 11th inst. that it was reported that Li Hung- chang had stated that the relations between the Empress Dowager and the Emperor had never been more harmonious. The Empress Dowager had agreed to the necessity for modern reforms
in China.
It was reported from London on the 8th inst. that the Powers were preparing a Note to China, in which they demanded an Imperial Decree condemning to death Prince Tuan and Lan, but that they would not oppose a com- mutation of the sentence by the Chinese Emperor.
The N.-C. Daily News reports that despatches have been received by the local mandarins at notifying them that several of the murderers Shangha! from Hangchow, capital of Chekiang, concerned in the massacre of missionaries at Chuchow in July last are known to have fled to Shanghai, and requesting that the local author- ities help in arresting the criminals.
