THE THEFT FROM THE DALLAS COMPANY.
APPLICATION FOR THE RESTITUTION OF THE PROPERTY.
At the Magistracy on the 12th inst.. before Mr. Gompertz, Mr. Reece made an application on behalf of Miss Hetty Peel and Miss Florence Peel for the restitution of certain property belonging to them, which had been stolen and pawned without their authority. He said his clients were perfectly innocent in this tran. saction. They left the property locked up in the custody of a person who had no authority to pawn it or to part with it in any way. They were not a party to an illegal transaction, and assuming the pawnbroker to be innocent he of two innocent persons must suffer. It was one of the risks of his business, He asked for the property to be re- turned to his clients without compensation.
