SILK. CANTON, 16th February.-Silk.-Taatlees and Re-reels. Nothing has been done in these sorts. Filatures. The market has been in a very un- settled state throughout the fortnight owing to the native New Year holidays.' As usual most of the Silk has been withdrawn from sale, and business has been practically suspended during the last week. Owing to less favourable news from Lyons, and buyers generally keeping off the market, prices declined steadily, although there is no pressure to sell on the part of the holders. Short-reels.-Have been in very little enquiry, and prices show also some weakness. Waste- Only 50 balen of Steam Waste are said to have been sattled. There is absolutely no demand, and the quotations given below are purely no- minal. Appended are quotations in anton, with laying down cost in London and Lyona, Exchange 4 months' sight, 1/1118 and Fes. 2.55 por Dollar.
CAMPHOR.
HONGKONG, 2nd March.-Large arrivals baving been reported, the price is going downward. Quotation for Formoan are $89.00 to $89.50; sales 80 picule.

JOINT STOCK SHARES. HONGKONG, 2nd March-A fair business. has been transacted during the week chiefly at irregular rates. The chief feature in the market has been a fall in Hongkong and Whampoa Dock shares owing to perssitant rumours of the contemplated building of new Docks by private enterprise.
BANKS.-Hongkong and Shanghai's after ruling fairly steady during the early week at 317 per cent. preininm the rate gradually fell on the approach of settlements and shares changed hands at $315 312 and 310 per sout. premiam at time of closing the market is rather firmer at $312 with small sales. Nationals are enquired for $25 without bringing any shares on the market.
MARINE INSURANCES-China Traders have been on offer at $50 without inducing business, Unions and Cantons have changed hands in small lots at quotations. Straits continue on offer without finding bayers at the redneed rate of 1 the quotatious for the Northern Insurances are in the absence of local business taken from the last Shanghai circulars.

FIRE INSURANCES. Hongkongs ruled rathers weaker with sellers at $349 sellers cum div, and close quiet at $320 ex div, China Fires on the other hard have been in some request and have found buyers in fair lots at $89, closing at $90.
SHIPPING. Hongkong Canton and Macaos continue dull and neglected at $291 with but a very small business. Iudos have changed hands at $87 closing firmer at $88. On time shares have been placed at $90, for 831th, May Douglases remain steady at $491 to $49 but without business. China Manilas and Chins Mutuals remain unchanged.
Refineries-China -Sugars have been negotiated at $135 $133 and $132 closing steady at $132. Luzons unchanged and without business.
MINING. Punjoms have ruled stendy to firms and sales bare been effected at $6 10 and $6.25 for ordinaries. Jelebus have changed hands at $13. Raubs at $63 and $62) and Olivers and Great Easterns at quotations. The mining market has ruled dull, generally.
DOCKS, WHARves, and GoDOWNS.-Hong. kong and Whampoa Docks with rumours of an opposition concern, have fallen considerably without sales, and shares are now obtainable at 495 per cent., premium, ex dividend. In the early of the week small sales were effected on time, at 8540 for March 31st, 8545 for May and 550 for June, all cum dividend. Kowloon Wharfs continue steady at $85 after sales át $87 and $86 for cash. The direction propose to pay a final dividend of 5 por cont. (making 13.50 to 98.00 10 per cent. for the year 1899) to write of
