Although Plato annexed the event Thuuder-Sir Horace McMahon's Lukong. 11st 4lbs storm pressed him to the bitter end, and the race between the two was well worth witnessing. Strathfleet made a gallant effort in the last quar ter, but had to strike his colours to the others.

The meeting of the winner and the runuer up in the Derby under conditious somewhat similar was bound to create interest, and the race between the two for the Garrison Cup proved specially attractive. The other starters played an unimportant part in the race, the result of which to some extent justifies the freely expressed opinion that the Derby posi- tion should have been reversed. Bulbal carried his penalty for Tuesday's win and the distance was shorter by a quarter of a mile. To the turn for home it looked as if he might trouble Modder, but once in the straight the latter de- monstrated his superiority and won in a pro- nounced fashion. This pony and Pluto, who with others have qualified for the Champiouship to be run to-day, should certainly participate in the final result.

The German Cup produced one of the largest fields of the day. Ten faced the starter and Messrs. McKie & Gore's Strathfleet, 10st included in the batch were no less than three of the previous day's winners. Orange Blossom and The Robber were fancied and the Valley Stakes victor, Rascal, had a large following. Minor also came in for a little attention. The ultimate winner was hardly mentioned, but when Mr. David led him past the slaud he received a tremendous oration. The win was immensely popular, in fact the reception given to the owner was really more enthusiastic than any recorded during the two days' racing. Moller deserves a word of praise for the determination he displayed when he got his mount out of the ruck. Every yard of the rau home was fiercely contested and it seemed to be only a question as to which rider would fail first. Mr. Moller certainly lasted longer than the rider of Orange Blossom, and was rewarded with a well merited win.

Mr. Toegs' Tiber proved too good for the other six competitors in the Navy Cup. He led from start to finish and never left the result in doubt for a moment. The Jockey Cup gare the hitherto unsuccessful eastern riders a chance to distinguish themselves, and Mr. Keys took advantage of the opportunity to debar himself from future events of a similar description. His mount, Major, showed an in- olination to get through with his task before the starting flag fell, and accompanied by Terra Verda made a tour of the course between the mile and the five furlong posts. On returning | Mr. G. H. Potts' Storm King. 10st 12lbs to the starting poiut Terra Verda took up the objective, and finally lauded his rider in the middle of the track.
