JOINT STOCK SHARES. HONGKONG, 16th June.-Business has ruled rather quieter during the week with no tran-Hongkong Rope... sactions of any importance to report. Rates continue steady.
BANKS.-Hongkong and Shanghais in the early part of the week, in response to a fall of £1 in the London rate, fell nominally to 295; with no shares obtainable, however, the maret gradually recovered to 300 with small sales at that rate for cash and equivalent rates forward. Nationals have changed hands at $20 and $20§. closing firm at the latter rate.
MARINE Insurances.—China Traders have found buyers at $62. Unions continue in request at the advanced rate of $2324, but no shares appear to be forthcoming. In the Northern Insurances there is nothing to report. Straits have improved to $5.
FIRE INSURANCES-Hongkongs have ruled quiet at $315 with small sales and Chiuas have changed hands in small lots at $87 and $88.
SHIPPING Hongkong, Canton and Macaos after changing hands at $29 and $294 advanced to $294, at which they close steady. Indo-Chinas have been negotiated at $69 and $69. Doug- Jases at $59, and China Manilas at $85. China Mutuals unchanged and without business.
REFINERIES.-China Sugars continue quiet with cash sellers at $175 and small sales for August at $181 and $1804, market closing quiet with further sellers, Luzons remain neglected and out of the market.
MINING.-Punjoms e ntinue booming and sales have been effected at $10 to $12) for cash. Charbonnages after sinall sales at $205 and $210 are in request at $2:5. Queens Jelebus, neglected and weak at 50 cents sales at $10.75 and $10.90; Great Easterns at $3.25 and $3,50, and Olivers at $4 A's. Raube continue quiet and the rate has fallen to $59.
DOCKS, WHARVES, AND GODOWNS.-Hong- kong and Whampoa Docks have ruled steady, but more or less neglected; small sales have been reported at 402 and 405 per cent. prem., but shares are obtainable in ordinary lots at lower rates. Kowloon Wharves have found buyers at $87 and $88. Wanchais neglected and without
business.
