First Round:-Dr. J. A. Lowson beat Mr. V. A. C. Hawkins by 3 up and 1 to play; Capt. up after a very even match, Des Voeux, R.E., defeated Mr.-R. H. Hill by 2

Major Morris, R.A., by 3 up and 2 to play, Second Round :-Dr.-J. A. Lowson defeated

while Capt. Des Voeux, R.E., won rather easily from Mr. E. C. Lane by 5 up and 3 to play.

Final Round:-A very close contest was the result of the meeting between Dr. Lowson and wound up the 18 holes "all even," Capt. Des Voeux, who after a keen struggle,

one of the "medico's." rounds being holed out in 39. Con- ' tinuing for another 9 holes by play which was particularly close, and in which the first three holes were halved, Lowson won at the 26th hole by 2 up and 1 to play. The game throughont was stubbornly fought and oredit is equally shared by both players, the golf played being ̈ distinctly good all round.

CAPTAIN'S CUP AND SILVER MEDAL FOR APRIL.

This was the first monthly competition for the cup presented on same conditions as have hitherto obtained by the new Captain for the year, and brought out a very good entry of menbers The best rounds for the 9 holes were made by the winner of the cup, who put in a 40, and by Dr. Lowson, who returned two of 42 each, the equivalent of the Colonel's rounds. The absence of rain is still very much felt on the links and putting greens. Following are the returns sent in

Conditions of play are fixed as follows:—All preliminary "Lies" match play of 18 holes, and the final 36 holos, half to be played in the fore noon, and half in the afternoon; all ties to be played off on or before the 16th inst.; and the final on Wednesday, 19th April.
