HONGKONG, 30th March.-Our freight market remaius firm with a good demand for steamer ton- nage which cannot be met owing to a scarcity of medium sized steamers
From Saigon to Hongkong, the rate is firm at 24 | to 25 cents per picul; quarantine of nine days is placed n steamers at Saigon arriving from this port (which includes the

down. From Bangkok there is a demand for Hongkong, at 2 cents outside and 274 cents per picul i side the bar, but for reas ns given above no settlements are reported.
Newchwang to Canton a small carrier is wanted al about 30 cents per picul, which has not been met Java to Hongkong, mixed cargo dry and/or wet sugar 35 cents per picul is flered.
Cod freights are firm for red tonnage, Moji to Hongkong $2.5", to Singapore, 3 20 to $3.25 per ton. Sailing tonnage, a sailer might be tak n hence to New York for May-June loading.
