2.2 Types of crossing

cheque

A crossing may be either general or special. General crossing:

This is where two parallel transverse lines are placed over thir cheque.

'Account payee only' or inot negotiables may be inserted between the lines.

'Account payer only crossing means that it can be paid only. into the bank account of the named payee.

Not negotiable crossing is a warning to the recipient to ensure that the transferer is the real owner of the cheque.

2.5 Differences between an open cheque and a crossed cheque, a stale

cheque and a post-dated cheque
