Kong. Such disagreement between China and Britain have led to recurring periods of difficulty for. Hong Kong, ruled by Britain but physically part of China. For Example, in the 1960s, the Culturai Revolution Zin

However, the relations between. China and Hong Kong, are greatly improved and these include "the following links:-

(1)since 1980, China has cooperated. with Hong Kong in keeping away. 11legal immigrates into Hong Kong, and keeping the legal immigration at an acceptable level.

(2)China has become Hong Kong.s largest trading partner, since

In order to see the above were achieved, the Sino-British Joint Liaison Group was set up. in May 1985, it will continue its work until the end of 1999. The group meets In.Beijing, London and Hong Kong. Since 14 July 1988, its main cbase has beenxin Hong Kong.

The Joint Liaison Group is not an administrative body. Its functions are

The achievements of the Joint "Liaison Group include:- ht

* Hong Kong became a contracting party to the GATT in its own right in 1986.

Separate Air Service Agreement was signed.

A new British National (Overseas) passport was introduced. Hong Kong is establishing its own separate Shipping Register.

Besides the JLG, the Sino- British Land Commission was set up in 1985 to work on land matters set out in the Joint Declaration. The commission will work until July 1997.

To sum up, Hong Kong will become San after 1997 and everyone

will be welcome to contribute to that new .experiment.
