Last time we discussed the compre- hension section of Paper III. Today we turn to the next section, the summary -section.
One thing you should bear in mind from. the very beginning is that summary. writing involves not only your power of expression but also your power of Comprehension. We cannot do without either. So make sure you really under- stand the given passage before you put bentopaper. Half-hearted attempts ften result in regrettable scores. As for the part of expression, remember He ABC of summary writing: A for Accuracy, B for Brevity and C for: Clarity
If your summary satisfies these three criteria, and you are sure that i鲣 is a summary (ie. you have added nothing superfluous), you can be quite certain that

How to write a summary
Read the given passage carefully.
Try to grasp the theme of it Read the question carefully and make sure you really understand it.Partial understanding can be hazardous or even disastrous.

(B) Very often, the parents criticise their children for wearing grotesque fashions or going out at night, whereas their children complain that their parents stifle their individuality and freedom.

So corporal punishment is usually adopted: Sometimes, children are beaten to death. for some mischieves they did which in fact are common among children of their age. Such heavy-handed measures will only make children dread their home.
(E) Scolding is also regarded as an effective way to reform children's behavious. Never did parents realise that: frequent. scoiding hurts a children's pride. The shame inflected will make them fose their self-confidence and as a result, they label themselves as the bad children, so naturally they will go with bad companions. They will be tired of their home and in turn leave home.
(F) On ī the other hand, to the children, the word -"parents' conjures.up a vision of an old-fashioned stuff. They always equate what their parents say to what they dress and how they look, so all are cut-dated..
