Ata quick glance one can see that the author has devoted nearly half of the essay to describe the enjoyable aspect, and half to describe the distaste- ful aspect. This is important, because the topic requires two things. You may, however, have nothing to complain about the celebration of the Chinese New Year; but you still have to mention: that, otherwise the marker may think that you have misinterpreted the topic | somewhat and forgotten the other half. Students often pay no. attention" to variety (q.v. ENGLISH [6]). They seldom; if ever, put any originality (eg. experience) into their essays, pessoal essays being hollow in con--
tetit and tone.
To go back to our discussion, Michelle's essay is a very interesting one. The other cd-authors agree to this too. Look how vivid the descriptions. she constructs. Note that in narrative and imaginative essays, soine descrip. tions need to be detailed.
