Population
Factors affecting the size of population:
There are a number of factors affecting the size of population of a country.
A group of individuals living in a nation makes up a population of the country. A population is always changing. depending on the rate at which its individual members reproduce, die or migrate. In other words, the rate of birth, rate of death, and rate of migration are the major factors determining the size

The size of population
is partly determined by the.
rate of birth of its citizens. A country with high birth
rate increases its
population size. However,
birth rate is affected by the food supply and the living environment of the place where they are situated. A country having sufficient supply of food, natural resources, fresh air and clean water, and also with good economic achievement and advanced technical skills usually tends to have a higher birth rate, since the environment is favourable enough for the reproduction of human beings. However, in some under-developed
countries, the birth rates are high inainly because an increasing population size can supply more labour force for their production activities, as long as they are labour-intensive.

RELATIONS BETWEEN THE KMT (Kuomintang, Nationalist Party) and THE CCP (Chinese Communist Party), 1928-1935
1, 1911-12 Chinese Revolution that overthrew the Ch'ing -Dynasty.
2. 1912-28 warlords ruling
China, political disunity.
1928 The KMT under Chiang Kai-shek succeeded in unifying China. But the unification was actually unreal, for former warlords, still controlled must of Chinese territory.

country depends whether if can introduce modern administration improving law and order and eliminating local warfare. Also, the introduction of modern transport,
communication, and distribution reduces local famines. Furthermore, a country introducing public health measures controlling diseases can reduce the death rate.
c) Net migration rate:
In each year, there are some persons moving into a country from another country, and also some persons moving out of a country to live in another country. The former is called immigration, and the latter is known as emigration. The balance of migration, the difference between immigration and emigration, is added to the size of population of the country. However, the balance of migration does not affect the total population of the world as a whole. Strict immigration laws prevent people from moving freely from one country to another. In this

with each other. However, when the KMT succeeded in unifying China, it no longer felt the need of cooperation. Besides, the two parties. derived political support from different social classes: The KMT landlords,
former warlords and urban businessmen. The CCP workers in
cities and (later. because of Mao Tse-tung) peasants in the vast countryside.
KMT-CCP relations 1928-1935 1.1928-1930 - Because the
country was newly unified, Chiang Kai-shek did not attack the CCP during this period, but concentrated on building up the central government.
1930-1934 - The KMT conducted a number of extermination campaigns (i.e. military attacks aiming at destroying communism in China) against the CCP:
a, reasons. i. Chiang's policy was exterminating
communism before defending China against Japan.
ii. By 1931. uncooperative warlords had been defeated by the KMT, so that Chiang could turn full attention to the communists.
iií. The CCP was quite successful in spreading social revolution in South and Central China, It was necessary to destroy them.
b, course: There were
altogether 6 extermination campaigns against the CCP. The first four campaigns were unsuccessful. When the KMT invaded, the CCP ran around and avoided head-on battle. This strategy was successful, However, in the 5th campaign, Chiang changed his way of attack. He ordered troops, to surround the communists and imposed an economic blockade. By late 1934, the communists had to abandon their bases in Kiangsi and started the Long March. effect: (a) KMT-CCP
case,
relations were very bad.
(b) The KMT neglected social reform because of the attack against the communists.
(c) Japan made use of the chance to make aggression on China,
the
Size of population of a country is largely determined by the death rate and birth rate.
To conclude, the size of a country's population is a combined result of the three rates described above. The size of population can become larger as the birth rate is greater than the death rate, while the migration is held constant.
II. Effects of population changes
The rapid growth of population has posed many problems on the world as a whole. They are described as follows:
a) The problem of food:
An increasing population demands for higher food production. On the other hand, the quality of food and its nutritional value are both important to a country of rising living standards. Thus there may exist a situation in which food is sufficiently supplied in one part of the world while people are starving elsewhere.
b) The environment:
KMT-CCP relaciotis 1335-1936
By late 1935, the communists
had arrived at Shensi in northwest China (after the
Long March). Chiang decided to undertake the 6th campaign, which would destroy the CCP once and for all. However, there was the Sian Incident in 1936.
(a) Sian Incident One of
-
Chiang Kai Shek's men, Chang Hsueh-liang, kidnapped Chiang in the expectation that
cooperation between the KMT and the CCP against Japan's aggression (which by this time was very serious) would be possible. In the end, Chiang had to agree to the Second KMT-CCP United Front (the first was from 1921 to 1928).
(b) Outbreak of the Second Sino-Japanese War (1937-1945) When the war broke out, the KMT and CCP cooperated with each other against Japan's invasion, though in fact they did not cooperate at all.
Reasons for the Second United Front
(a) Strong Chinese nationalism
There was widespread demand for a reverse of Chiang Kai-shek's policy. Chiang intended to destroy communism before dealing with Japan. Many Chinese nationalists wanted the contrary. Chiang's policy became very unpopular, (b) The CCP making use of the strong force of Chinese nationalism
The
Communists declared war on Japan as early as 1932 (though in fact they had very little actual military
engagement with the Japanese). Many Chinese nationalists sympathized with the communists. (c) Soviet Russia's advocacy
In the early 1930s, Soviet Russia called upon all communists of the world to cooperate with their capitalist governments against German Nazism and Japanese militarism, The aim was to defend the fatherland of communism,
1. e. Soviet Russia herself.
Population growth is more or less related to the deterioration environmental quality, such as air and water pollution, depletion of natural resources, disposal of waste materials. It makes the solutions of environment problems more difficult.
c) Social problems:
An increasing population demands for more social services, ranging from education and housing, medical and health, social welfare, to law and order. Besides, the concentration of people in urban areas makes urban planning and administration complex and difficult.
d) Family health:
A family having many children may adversely affect the relation in the family, educational opportunities provided to the children, and also parental care. In turn, these will affect the mental, physical and psychological development of a child. A family of large size usually has ALES LAUKOL unsatisfactory family relationships and even a deterioration of family life.
