Dear Students,

The HKCEE English Language Paper III consists of three parts. Part One is a test of the candidate's ability to write a piece of precis based on a given passage of about 600 words. In Part Two, questions will be set to test compre- hension of the same passage. In Part Three the candidate will be required to answer questions which test his active control of various aspects of language such as structure, usage and vocabu- lary. Today I have chosen to give some guidance on Sentence Transformation, which is a very important type of usage question set for the first time in the 1979 HKCEE English Paper III.
