(a) A large crystal, of calcium

carbonate was added to 100cm3

of 3M hydrochloric acidina flask.and the mixture was shaken gently until the crystal was completely dissolved. A crystal of a pure metallic carbonate,MCO., weighing 4.2g, was then added into the: flask. The flask was kept at constant temperature and the carbon dioxide evolved was rollected in a graduated: vessel. The volume of carbon dioxide was recorded at 20-minute intervals and corrected to st.p. The following graph showing the results of the experiment was given.
