As all of us know that an ocean current travelling toward a pole will warm air which passe over it, producing air tempera- tures higher than would normally be expected for the latitude. However, it should be noted that neither oeeans nor ocean currents can have their maxi- mum effect upon temperature u unless the prevailing winds blow from the water to the land. Prevailing; wind direction and the movements of air maases have a direct influence upon the average temperatures of an area.
