FORMATION OF A VOLCANIC LAKE BASIN
If the lava is viscous or if the vent of the volcano ia blocked, eruption will he explosive. Such explosive eruption can usually remove the top of the volcano, turn- ing it into a rounded funnel- shaped hollow which reaches great depth. In some cases, the hollows are formed by the collapse or subsidence of the top, resulting in the cooling contraction of magma.
The
vent will be finally blocked by solidified lava. In time, water fills the hollow, con- verting if into a lake called crater lake or caldera lake.

In mountainous areas, snow of ten collecte in the hollows of rocks,
Flucking, a process of which cracks and joints are enlarged by freeze and thaw action, takes place, the aides of the hollow are steepened and the base deepened. The hollow is enlarged into an armchair feature known as corrie.. Warner conditions cause ice to waste away, and moraine to be pushed forward and left on the lip./

On the floor of U-shaped valleys, elongated hol towe may be carved out by the act- ions of plucking and abrasion of the glaciers, water will occupy these hollows and con÷ vert them into lakes termed ribbon Lakes, Sometimes, these long and narrow lakes may be a result of the deposi- tion of poraines on the floor of the U-shaped valley. They dam up rivers to form lakes.
Reasons for industrializa- tion in the developing nationa
The developing nations, such as Burma, Thailand and Malaysia, are placing great importance upon the develop÷. ment of industry, mainly light industries which require Less complicated technique and lesser capital. The meri ta of industrialization are
Releasing population pres-
Bure
The development of indus- tries enables crbanization and expansion of urbanised area. These help to remove surplus population and release overcrowding.
Diversifying the nation's economy
Industrialization also helps to diversify the.. nation's economy, offering more and better job opportuni- ties, and bring higher nation- al income.
3) Increasing agricultural
output
Industrialization helps to prevent great agriculturál loss caused by natural disas ters. Industrial output such as farming machineries, farm equipments and fertilizers help to raise the yield of agricultural products and open up marginal land. Thus, more food can be provided for the urban population.
4) Exploiting matural
resources
Vertical backwmil
Industrialization helps.
to urge the country to exploit. natural resources, such as development in mining, Fisking and lumbering. The total national output is therefore/ increased.
5) Balancing the trade
Industrialization helps
to balance the trade of the nation. It can then depend less on importation of' mana- factured goods. Since pro- ductivity from primary sector ie raised, there may be sur- plus for export.
6) Raising standard of living
Industrialization has the effect to restrict popu lation growth, The manufac- ture of consumer's goods such vas textile, radio, and other,
electrical appliances helps to raise the living standard of the people too.

Problems which hinder
industrial growth
Lack of capital
Industrialization in, developing countries is often hindered by the lack of capi- tali
The poverty of the coun- try makes saving difficult. The backward conditions can hardly attract foreign and local investments as well,
2) Lack of skilled labour
and entrepreneurship
Since education standard is generally low, labour is inefficient and management
poor,
Lack of market
The poor people have low consumption power, local demand is thus low. The manufactured goods are difficult to break into over- seas marketa.
Poor communications and insufficient power supply
Poor communications increase the cost of trans- portation and the insuffi- cient supply of cheap power raises the cost of product- ton, making the manufactured ghoda less competitive in local and world marketa,
5) Others
It takes time to convert peasants into industrial labour force, and to train them to work under the mod- ern factory system.
