Brown colour. Saliva contain an enzyme which catalyzes the conversion of starch to sugar. 〈2〉Blue-black colour.Boiled enzyme does not act on starch. (3) Brick red precipitate. The presence of sugar. (ii) 37°C is the optimum temperature for the enzymatic reaction of the saliva. (iii) They serve as the cone trol.

(iv) To investigate the eff ect acidic solution on the enzymatic action of saliva. (v) Ptyalin..

(vi) A positive result of Iodine test. and a negative result of Fehling's test would be obtained. It is because the activity of pty.. abin is much reduced at low temperatures.

(b)(i)Fish contains rich amounts. of protein, calcium and vita- min D. which are important for growth of children.

(ii) Fish: rich calcium and vitamin D. Spinach; rich calcium and vitamin C. (iii) Scurvy. (iv)Rice.

(c)1.At 4 a.m., the starch con-

tent in the leaves is low- est. This indicates that no photosynthesis takes place) and starch in leaves is main- ̇tained at low level.

2.From 4 aim. to 4 p.m., the starch content in the leaves increases. This indicates that starch is accumulated as photosynthesis takės place.

3.From 4p.m. to 4 a.m., the starch content decreases. This indicates the accumula- ted atarch is converted into sugar which is transported to other parts of the plant. At the same time, the rate. of photosynthesis decreases and at last becomes zero. 2.(a)(1)(1) By diffusion.

(2) Oxygen is carried. away from the lung through the pulmonary. vein in the form of oxyhemoglobin.
