parliamentarianism and
constitutionalism were
practised in China. They
failed because:
parliamentarians like Sung Chiao-jen ware inexperienced.

ditional distaste för parties, for the Chinese word for a party meant a clique motivated by selfish desires. there was even stronger dislike of an open struggle for power. iv. the system of majority:
vote seemed to some a very arbitrary way of disposing oppositions by rejecting opponents instead of, as the Chinese preferred, com promising with them. power and political authority had been decentralized to the provinces, making a constitutional republic difficult to function. vi, social conservatism,
especially from the gentry and ignorant masses, was strong.
the aims of the intell-
ectuals was not so much the practising of cons- titutionalism but the reunification and re- creation of a central- ized government of China.

Chinese Communist Move- ment:
1. the Long March had
brought Mao Tse-tung a position of supreme leadership in the Chinese Communist party after the Tsunyi con- ference in Kweichow province in early 1935. ii. the Long March had
brought the Communists. a geographical position in Shensi to consolidati their influence and defend against the Nationalista..
the Long March gave the Communists a chance to stimulate Chinese nationalist feelings and mobilize them for revolutionary purposes when they said they were going north to fight the Japanese. the Long March served to reinforce Mao's faith that men with the pro- per will, spirit and revolutionary con- sciousness could con- quer all material obstacles.
the Long March gave the surviving Communists
a renewed sense of Jope and a deepened seris of mission and confidence in the eventual triumph of Communism.
