A Sectional Structure of The Mammallion Heart
The mammalian heart is a hollow, muscular and cone-shaped organ which is divided into four chambers, the upper called auricle -- and the lower called ventricles
The whole organ is wrapped in a tough membrane, the pericardium, situated in the thoracic cavity. Between the outside of the heart and the pericardium is the pericar -dial cavity which is filled with a fluid to minimize the friction during cardiac
diac movements.
ALL four chambers have muscul -ar walls, but of different thick- ness. Those of the auricles are thin dependent on the amount of work/required to force their contents into the ventricles. The walls of the right and left ventri -cles are thicker, especially those of the right ventricle, because they have to pump blood through the lungs or to produce. pressure required to force the blood out of the aorta to the rest of the
The gate between the right. auricle and ventricle is termed the tricuspid valve which is composed of three free-end flaps, while the gate between left auricle and ventricle is called the mitral valve which includes only two flaps.
There is an artery, the pulmonary artery, coming out from
ventricle to the lungs. The
coming out from the left ventricle to the rest of the body. At the base of these arteries, these is a whorl of three flaps, called the semi-lunar valve, preventing the blood from retreat- ing back.
There are two veins, the superior and inferior venae cavae, entering the right auricle.
