This is a special type of electron tube

which makes Television and Radar possible.

The CRT is a highly evacuated glass tube: consisting of-

Electrons are emitted by the hot cathode.

They are attracted by the accelerating and focusing anodes by the high positive potential. The beam passes a cylindrical grid G. The grid is given a negative potential to concentrate the electron beam as well as to control the number of electrons passing. It is designed to control the brightness of the picture. Anodes A and A2 are metal cylinders with centre apertures. Their positive potential makes it possible to accelerate the electrons to a high velocity and provide Further focusing of the beam.
