The importance of the business

cated by two facts. First, it receives

Under a system or free enterprisei the simplest form of business organ- ization 18 individual proprietorship. In this kind of business, it is owned and controlled by a single man, is aolely responsible for providing the capital necessitated by the firm. and for the running of the business.

We can easily see the advantages:} of individual proprietorship. Manage➡- ment is easy due to simplicity of f organization. The proprietor has a
direct interest in taking care of his property and to make the best of at
as he is the one who reaps all rewards
and bears all the losses. More- over, proprietorship enables one to inculcate pride in owning one's own shop or factory. Personal reputation therefore is Important in this form. of business.
However, drawbacks do exist in individual proprietorship.. Usually
the one who runs this kind of bus 1- ness must be well-rounded and versar tile. It is difficult to procure capital and what is more, the owner has to bear the possibility of incur- ring Li:unlimited liability. Consen quently, few manufacturing businesses today are run by sole proprietor This form of business has been found moat "commonly in the retail trade and servicing occupations. Sometimes " businesses of sole proprietors have grown quite large and is not unusual. for them to be organised as partner- ships or limited companies in order to secure further expansion in the future.
Partnership comes into existence when a firm is so large that few in- dividuals have enough capital to be the sole owner. When two or more people (but not more than.twenty) together to run a business we have' partnership. when compared to the proprietorship, the partnershin form of business enterprise permits the accumulation of larger quantities of capital.
The attraction of special- ized personnel leading to the division of managerial tasks is possible.ee
Partnership, on the other hand, has its inevitable drawbacks. The partners re individually responsible
for any debts incurred py the firm. The liability of the firm is there- fore unlimited. In the absence of argument, a partnership is automatic- cally dissolved by the death or banke Pruptcy of a partner. A partnership
can also be dissolved if entered into for an undefined time, by any partger giving notice to. the others of his intention to dissolve their : partnership. Fartnership is therefore "aubjected to an uncertain life。
