This series of weekly carcises 18 written with the intention:
(1) to help students to review the subject
thoroughly before sitting for the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination, 1969, (2) to guide students to answer questions in an acceptable form in the Examination, and (3) to provide hints to students in dealing with
different types of problems.
To achieve the above, two questions will be set similar to those set in the papers of the previous Hong Kong School Certificate Examination and General Certificate of Examination, together with some of highly original and ingenious problems which require a certain amount of forthought and planning. Questions are immediately followed by suggested answers in the coming Wednesday,
In the past years, the paper of this subject in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education (English) Examination is divided into four sections; Section deals with General Physics (Mechanics and Properties of Matter are inclusive); Section B, with Heat, Section C Light and Sound; and Section D, Nagnetism. and Electricity. The examination paper is designed to cover practically the whole syllabus. To pass the examination successfully, candidates should have a full knowledge of the syllabus, understand the principles and laws thoroughly, and have the ability to apply these principles to unfamiliar problems. They should also have performed all fundasental experiments,
In the examination candidates should pay special attention to the instructions given at the top of the examination paper and follow them strictly. The choice of questions offered is usually more than sufficient, It is a good practice to read through the whole paper carefully and tackle the more familiar ones firse. Do not write furiously the moment the paper is received. Candidates should be reminded that, if 2018. the full marks for a question, they will never get 21 out of 20 no matter how long and how well they write the answer. They should try to finish the total number of questions required and spend not more than 25 minutes on each question as the paper lasts for 150 minutes, Be sure that there is spare time to read through the answers once more and to check the aolutions.
