VOLUMES

A solid like an ordinary box, each face of which is a rectangle is called a RECTANGULAR SOLID or a

CUBOID; and if each face is a square, the solid_is called a CUBE.

A cube, sach edge of which is 1 in, long, is' called a CUBIC INCH block. its volume is one cuvio inch or 1 cum ih.

EXAMPLE 1

if the cuboid is 9 in, long, 7 in. broad and 6 in. high, then we say ita VOLUME 1a (9 x 7 x 6) cu. in. or 378 cu. in. The shape of the cuboid 1. said to be measured by "9 in. by 7 in. by 6 in."
