Agreement of the Verb with the Subject

動词典芏语的配合

The verb should agree with the subject in number and

[person :-(動调感跟主语的数及人揭相配合

(a) A verb must be in the same number end the same person as

`its subject_-_(動词應與其主陵之數及人稱相同)

(x)

1. Tom is reading in the library.

2. They are playing football.

3. She has taught English-since 1956.*

4. I am very tired.

5. We shall be late to-day

(b) Two or more singular subjects connected by and should · take a verb in the plural :-(由and 連接的两個或两侧 以上之学数主词,其动词應為模數:

EX..

1. Jam and Faul have finished their work.

2. Mr. Wong and Miss Lee are good teachers.

3. Two and four make six.

4. Jana and John were invited to the dinner. 5. Tom and May were absent yesterday.

(c) Two singular subjecta connected by and, extressing one

idea, should take a verb in the singular - (由and连接 的两個單點主词,如是表示一起意義者,其面闪感為單數)
