CONFIRMATION OF THE MINUTES OF THE MEETING HELD ON 9 JUNE 1998
The minutes of the meetings held on 9 June 1998 were confirmed.

III. QUESTIONS
(1) THE HON. LI WAH-MING asked the following question (in Cantonese):-- According to by-laws 28–30 of the Hawker (Urban Council) By-laws of the Public Health and Municipal Services Ordinance, Cap. 132, the Council may erect meters at fixed hawker pitches. However, the regulation has never been enforced since its enactment in 1972. In this regard, I have the following questions:
(a) What are the reasons for the Council not carrying out enforcement of the above provisions?
(b) If the Council does not intend to erect meters at fixed hawker pitches, will it consider repealing the provisions concerned?
(c) Will the Council conduct any comprehensive reviews on the ways of handling obsolete provisions under the Urban Council by-laws? If not, what are the reasons?
