the level of bacteria contained in the sample exceeds the stipulated standard, we will take corresponding measures. Under these circumstances, people who keep live seafood will not be careless in taking water from seawater suppliers. They will be cautious in choosing the sources of seawater. They will only choose to buy seawater that is clean. In this way, we are able to control and monitor the water quality.

Secondly, at present we do not have any legislation to prohibit people from drawing seawater along the coast. Though we know that many water areas are polluted, such as the Victoria Harbour, there is no legislation to stop people from drawing seawater there. Therefore, we are unable to take any regulatory sanction against seawater suppliers who draw water along the coast. On the other side, we hope that the Inter-departmental Working Group will continue their feasibility study on establishing a registration system for seawater suppliers and work out details for controlling and monitoring seawater suppliers, so as to ensure that they will provide high quality seawater to people who keep live seafood.

Thirdly, Mr. Chairman, we will definitely follow up the issue raised by Mr. To.

CHAIRMAN (in Cantonese):—If Members do not have any follow-up questions, we will move on to the next agenda item, the motion on Urban Council Ordinance. The first motion is moved by Mr. Joseph CHAN Yuek-sut, Chairman of the PH S/C. Mr. Chan, please.
