Chairman of the Select Committee ever put forth any views on the problems cropping up in different seasons? Would he agree that there is the need for different frequency of cleaning or replacement?
MR. MOK YING-FAN (in Cantonese):—As far as I know, Mr. Joseph LAI too is a member of the Museums Select Committee. If he has any constructive suggestions, he may bring them up at the meetings of the Select Committee. He is welcome to put up any request to the Department at the meetings of the Select Committee.
Concerning the schedules that major repairs of the seats are carried out once a year, and the replacement of headrest caps and sterilization and cleaning of headphones are carried out once a month, if Mr. LAI is not satisfied with them, he is also welcome to raise the issue with the Department at the next meeting of the Museums Select Committee. Should everyone decide and endorse at the meeting that major repairs should be carried out once every six months or the replacement of headrest caps and sterilization and cleaning of headphones, twice every month, I am sure that it can be done as long as resources permit.
MS. GRACE AU YUK-HAN (in Cantonese):—I have one follow-up question. Just now Mr. Mok said that he could not answer my questions today, but I consider that if the rate of utilization of the Museum for the showing of Omnimax films is quite high (that is, over 50%), the Department or the Council should be obliged to re-examine the need to make improvement to the Omnimax Theatre. In particular, I hope MR. MOK will promise to follow up on my requests at the future meetings of the Museums Select Committee and consider whether it is possible to remove the front-row seats and introduce the seat allocation arrangement. In fact, I don't have any fixed ideas yet but I wonder whether it is possible for Mr. Mok to promise to follow up seriously on the issue as far as practicable at the meetings of the Museums Select Committee.
MR. MOK YING-FAN (in Cantonese):—I think Ms. Au's request is very constructive and I will follow up at the meetings of the Museums Select Committee.
Regarding my remark that I have to obtain further information from the Department before I can answer Ms. Au's questions, I am sure Ms. Au too is fully aware that as Councillors, we are only acting according to policies or broad directions. For matters involving minute details, Select Committee Chairmen cannot possibly attend to them personally and know them all. Hence, for such questions raised at the monthly meetings, I can only give a general reply.
MR. JOSEPH LAI CHI-KEONG (in Cantonese):—I am glad to hear that Mr. Mok will follow up on our requests. I hope that for matters discussed at the
