PROVISIONAL URBAN COUNCIL
MR. CHRISTOPHER CHUNG SHU-KUN (in Cantonese):-First of all, concerning Mr. Pao's remark that he regretted what I had asked, I wish to state that my regret about Mr. PAO is even stronger because you have made a mistake. You can't even tell the difference between the Board of Directors and the Management Committee. I was merely reminding you. I hope that as the Chairman of the Select Committee, you should familiarize yourself with the organizations being subsidized by the Council, because the amount of public money spent is indeed an enormous one.
Furthermore, the Chairman of the Select Committee mentioned that for the promotion of local talents .....
THE HON. LI WAH-MING (in Cantonese):-Mr. Chairman, it is now the question and answer session, not the debate session. I hope the Chairman will strictly enforce the Standing Orders.
MR. CHRISTOPHER CHUNG SHU-KUN (in Cantonese):-I was only trying to clarify the wrong information he provided. I know the Standing Orders. I was only trying to clarify that it was not I who said something wrong. It was he who said something wrong and I was merely asking him to clarify. He must not make slanders randomly.
The second follow-up question. Just now Mr. PAO said that the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra had contributed to the promotion of local arts, nurturing of local musicians and development of music. I wish to find out exactly that apart from outreaching work in schools, have we nurtured any local artists to become the major musicians of orchestras? Has the Orchestra made any efforts in this area? If yes, how much?
MR. PAO PING-WING (in Cantonese):-Mr. Chairman, about the first follow-up question of the two questions raised by Mr. CHUNG, I believe that it is his opinion and therefore I don't intend to respond to it.
About the second question concerning the identification and promotion of local arts talents by the Hong Kong Philharmonic Society and Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, as I said just now I don't have the specific information and figures with me. I will try to collect the relevant information after the meeting and forward it to Mr. LAM and Mr. CHUNG.
(3) Ms. GRACE AU YUK-HAR asked (in Cantonese):—'As I have recently received complaints about the facilities in the Space Museum, I have the following questions:
(i) Recently, there have been complaints from citizens that when sitting in the front row in the Omnimax Theatre to watch films, they felt dizzy. In designing the Theatre for the Space Museum, did the Council consider the effects of the seats arrangement on the audience's health?
