accorded priority and the Council hopes that if the financial situation permits, it will provide these venues as early as possible for public use.
MR. RONNIE WONG MAN-CHIU (in Cantonese):—I have a follow-up question. I wish to ask the Chairman of the Finance Select Committee whether he would consider according priority to slope maintenance works if such a situation did arise, because public safety is involved. It is hoped that the Chairman of the Finance Select Committee will take this back to the Select Committee for discussion.
MR. CHIANG SAI-CHEONG (in Cantonese):—All right. No problem.
MR. HENRY WU KING-CHEONG (in Cantonese):—I wish to raise a question in connection with paragraph 7 of the written reply, which states that the Council has earmarked $32m for the maintenance of existing slopes and consultancies. I wish to ask the Chairman of the Select Committee whether he has a detailed breakdown of the expenditure on maintenance and consultancies.
MR. CHIANG SAI-CHEONG (in Cantonese):—I thank MR. HENRY WU for his question. I will furnish MR. WU with the detailed breakdown of the expenditure.
(3) MR. WU CHI-WAI asked (in Cantonese):—Recently, there have been press reports that when football goers entered the Mong Kok Stadium to watch matches, they found a notice board in Chinese and English conspicuously displayed at the gate of the Stadium stating that children and women without permission are not allowed to enter the track and the pitch of the Stadium. In this respect, I have the following questions:
(a) Before the issue of these press reports, was the Urban Services Department, being the manager of the Stadium, aware that the Hong Kong Football Association would display this notice board during all football matches at Mong Kok Stadium? After the issue of these press reports, what follow-up action was taken by the Department?
(b) The Department aware that the Hong Kong Football Association will display this notice board or not when the Council's Hong Kong Stadium and its other stadia are rented to the Association for conducting activities?
(c) In the past, have citizens using the recreational venues complained to the Department that some facilities had the elements of discriminating the female? If yes, what are the contents of the complaints?
MR. RONNIE WONG MAN-CHIU, CHAIRMAN OF THE RECREATION SELECT COMMITTEE, replied (in Cantonese):—Mr. Wu's question is in three parts. In the first part of the question, he asks whether the Department was aware, before the issue of these press reports, that the Hong Kong Football Association would display the notice during all football matches at Mong Kok
