CONFIRMATION OF THE MINUTES OF THE MEETING HELD ON 8 SEPTEMBER 1998

The minutes of the meeting held on 8 September 1998 was confirmed.

II. PAPERS LAID

The following paper was laid: Report to the Provisional Urban Council by the Secretary, Provisional Urban Council, for the month of September 1998.

III. QUESTIONS

CHAIRMAN (in Cantonese): As Mr. Ronnie WONG who asked Question 1 is not here, may I propose that the question be deferred and Question 2 be handled first. Would Ms. Grace Au raise the question in his name?

(2) MS. GRACE AU YUK-HAN asked (in Cantonese):

"(a) What is the total number of swimmers in the Council's public swimming pools for the past three years? Also, please show the number of such swimmers from June to October in the past three years.

(b) Has the Department statistically analysed which time period within the daily opening hours of the Council's public swimming pools would have the largest number of swimmers?

(c) At present, are there any standard cleansing procedures for the Council's swimming pools? If yes, what are the standard procedures?

(d) What is the current staffing position of the Council's swimming pools? On average, how many staff are responsible for cleaning swimming pools at each swimming pool venue?

(e) It is understood that in earlier days, there were daily sessional closures at the Council's swimming pools, and that later the arrangement was changed to opening on a non-sessional basis. When did the Council decide
