In the past, there were specified weight requirements to follow and supplies were based on weight as units, such as 6 heads for 3 catties, 4 heads for 2 and a half catties or 10 heads for 10 and a half catties. This mode of operation runs into difficulties under the new system now in place. Will the Chairman of the Select Committee ask the Department for some suggestions or methods to solve this and help traders overcome their difficulties?

The technical problems concerning water bird trading will be handled as in the past and in future through direct negotiations between traders and their business partners. On the need for mediation by the Department, I think it is more appropriate for the AFD to make suitable arrangement if it deems necessary.
MR. SUEN Kai-Cheong, on behalf of Mr. Christopher Chung Shu-Kun, asked the following question (in Cantonese):-Since some citizens complained recently that the surface material of the Council tennis courts was worn. Therefore I have the following questions:
(a) What is the coating material on the Council's tennis courts? What is its durability? Can it be replaced by another material of higher quality? What is the cost for replacement?
(b) What is the durability of the coating material in other recreational facilities of the Council, such as the artificial turf soccer pitches, running tracks in athletic grounds and squash courts?
(c) What is the annual maintenance cost of the Council's recreational facilities and its percentage as compared with the total expenditure of the recreational facilities?

MR. RONNIE WONG MAN-CHIU, CHAIRMAN OF COMMITTEE, replied as follows (in Cantonese):-Mr. Chung's question is divided into three parts. The first part is on the type of coating material of the Council's tennis courts and its durability. He also enquired whether such material could be replaced by something of higher quality and the cost for replacement.
Most of the Council's tennis courts are coated with "multi-layer acrylic colour coating". Durability of the coating material mainly depends on the usage rate of various venues. Given the average usage rate of the Council's tennis courts, it is estimated that the coating material needs to be replaced every 3 to 4 years.
In fact, the "multi-layer acrylic colour coating", renowned for its durability and anti-slippery properties, has been used globally on many tennis courts where international tournaments are held. According to the Architectural
