purposes of tidying up the legislation, it is necessary to repeal items 4 and 11 of Part II; item 3 of Part IV; and 'Exhibition Court at Hong Kong Squash Centre or any squash court (20% of gross receipts)' in item 1 of Part V of the Schedule to the Pleasure Grounds (Urban Council) Bylaws (Cap. 132 sub. leg.)

Mr. Wong Kwok-hing, Vice-Chairman of the Public Health Select Committee, Moved the following motion:--
'RESOLVED that the Slaughterhouses (Urban Council) (Amendment) Bylaw 1995 be made under section 77A(5) of the Public Health and Municipal Services Ordinance, Cap. 132.’
He said (in Cantonese):—Mr. Chairman, as Vice-Chairman of the Public Health Select Committee, I rise to move the motion standing in my name.
The Slaughterhouses (Urban Council) (Amendment) Bylaw 1995 repeals the licensing fees for operation of a private slaughterhouse in the Urban Council area as specified in Schedule 3 to the Slaughterhouses (Urban Council) Bylaws.
The revised licensing fees for operation of a private slaughterhouse have been determined by the Council on 5 September 1995 under section 77A(1)(b) of the Public Health and Municipal Services Ordinance, Cap. 132. The revised fees will be published in the Gazette in a government notice for public information.
There is at present only one licensed private slaughterhouse at Kennedy Town in the Urban Council area. The revised scale will slightly increase the annual licence fee payable by the operators from $126,530 to $134,430 when they apply for renewal in mid-November this year.
This increase in licensing fees is minimal in monetary terms and should have no perceivable impact on the overall operating costs of the slaughterhouse concerned.
Sir, with these remarks, I beg to move.
MR. PAO PING-Wing (in Cantonese);—Mr. Chairman, I second the motion.
The question was put.
The motion was carried unanimously.
