HONG KONG URBAN COUNCIL

MR. AUGUSTINE S. K. CHUNG, VICE-CHAIRMAN OF THE Markets and STREET TRADERS SELECT COMMITTEE, seconded (in English):-Mr. Chairman, as Vice-Chairman of the Select Committee, may I second the motion?

MR. YOUNG (in English):---Mr. Chairman, the estimates by the Urban Council for 1982 and 1983 do show a deficit of something in the region of $547 million. I think under the circumstances, it is particularly important that the Urban Council should stand firm in its policy of not increasing its subsidies to hawkers. Therefore, I support the motion.

The question was put.

The motion was carried unanimously.

ADJOURNMENT-4.45 p.m.

CHAIRMAN (in English):-That concludes the business of this meeting. Before adjourning the meeting, may I take this opportunity to wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy and Prosperous New Year. The Council stands adjourned until Tuesday, 12 January, 1982 at 2:30 p.m.
