HONG KONG URBAN COUNCIL
The motion was carried unanimously.
3 MR EDMUND W. H. CHOW, CHAIRMAN OF THE FOOD HYGIENE SELECT COMMITTEE, moved the following motion: 'RESOLVED that the Food Business (Amendment) (No 3) By-laws 1978 be made under section 56 of the Public Health and Urban Services Ordinance, Cap. 132.'
He said (in English):—Mr Chairman, I rise to move the resolution standing in my name-
'RESOLVED that the Food Business (Amendment) (No 3) By-laws 1978 be made under section 56 of the Public Health and Urban Services Ordinance, Cap. 132.'
An error was made in the Food Business (Amendment) (No 2) By-laws 1978 which were adopted by this Council at its meeting on 11 July. Unfortunately, sub-paragraph (b) of By-law 36(1) of the principal By-laws was deleted instead of sub-paragraph (c), and the purpose of the resolution now before Council is to reinstate sub-paragraph (b) and to delete sub-paragraph (c).
Sir, I beg to move.
DR P. C. WONG, VICE-CHAIRMAN OF THE FOOD HYGIENE SELECT COMMITTEE (in English):-Mr Chairman, I beg to second the motion.
MRS E. ELLIOTT (in English):-Just to say that as I voted against the motion in the first place, and I do not think the amendment does anything to change the motion, I think it is only logical to vote against the correction.
CHAIRMAN (in English):-Does any Member wish to speak? As that was just a personal statement, I am not asking the Chairman to reply. The question was put.
The motion was carried with 19 votes for, 1 against and 1 abstention. (The Chairman did not vote.)
ADJOURNMENT-5.05pm
CHAIRMAN (in English):-Council stands adjourned until Tuesday, 24 October 1978, at 4.00pm.
