MR. FORSGATE (in English):—I would like to suggest that referring to an anachronism is a little bit out of date for a modern looking Council like us, Mr. Chairman.

(2) MR. JOHN MACKENZIE asked the following question (in English):-
What progress is being made in the Council's swimming-pool programme, and what is the latest schedule for completion of the Aberdeen and other pools in the programme?
MR. F. K. HU, VICE-CHAIRMAN OF THE RECREATION AND AMENITIES SELECT COMMITTEE, replied as follows (in English):
Mr. Chairman, I am pleased to inform Mr. MACKENZIE that satisfactory progress is being made with the Council's swimming pools programme.
At present there are two full-scale swimming pool complexes under construction, one at Welfare Road in Wong Chuk Hang, Aberdeen and the other at Tai Wan in the Hung Hom Kowloon. The special feature of both these complexes is that the main pool will be heated and may be used all the year round. The site for the Aberdeen Swimming Pool has been formed and building work commenced on 20th August, 1975. The anticipated completion date is December 1976. Piling is in progress at Tai Wan and building work is scheduled to begin at the end of November. The completion date for the Tai Wan Pool is April 1977.
At the end of this year, work will also begin on the construction of diving and teaching pools beside the existing swimming pool in Victoria Park, and these additional facilities should be ready by December 1976.
The Public Works Department is now working on sketch plans for another full-scale swimming pool complex at Chai Wan and it is intended that work on this project should begin in the later part of 1976. The two remaining swimming pool complexes in the Urban Council Programme, at Hammer Hill and Kowloon Park, cannot proceed for the time being because the sites are not yet available. However, it is hoped that both these pools will be completed by the early 1980s.

(3) MISS CECILIA L. Y. YEUNG asked the following question (in Cantonese):-
Is there any Urban Council Public Library in the Sham Shui Po district?
If not, is it possible to move the mobile library to the district regularly?
MRS. E. ELLIOTT, CHAIRMAN OF THE LIBRARIES SELECT COMMITTEE, replied as follows (in English):-
Mr. Chairman, this question deals with the provision of library services in the Sham Shui Po district.
There is at present no Urban Council Public Library in Sham Shui Po, but the district is number one priority in our library programme. Under the 10-year library expansion programme two libraries are envisaged for the district, but at this stage, due to delays in the construction of Government joint-user buildings, it is not possible to state when and where these will be provided.
As an interim measure a mobile library service is being planned to serve Sham Shui Po as well as other districts in North Kowloon. Planning for this service is now well in hand, and it is expected that the service will commence in 1976. All this information is included in the minutes of the Libraries Select Committee meetings which are distributed to all Council Members, but in case Miss YEUNG has overlooked the information, she is welcome to inspect my papers on this subject at the end of this meeting.
MISS YEUNG (in Cantonese):-Mr. Chairman, I would like to ask a supplementary question and that is since we will be having two libraries in Sham Shui Po and, at present, the work is not in hand yet, is it possible to borrow flats belonging to the Housing Department to use them as libraries, because in Sham Shui Po there are a lot of young people who need to use libraries and the help of library books to help them along with their studies. I would like to know whether the Urban Council can take any interim measures to help the youngsters?
MRS. ELLIOTT (in English):-Mr. Chairman, we are constantly looking for suitable buildings. We do have in mind one building in the Lai Chi Kok area which will serve the northern end of Sham Shui Po and we are looking for another building in the southern part. At
