HONG KONG URBAN COUNCIL
will view his departure with regret and wish him well in this sphere. His successor will be Dr. A. H. R. Coombes, M.B.E., who is already well known to you. (Applause).
MR. FUNG PING FAN :- On behalf of my colleagues and myself, we are sorry to learn that we are going to miss Dr. Teng in this Council Chamber, but one consolation is that he is not leaving the Colony and therefore we shall have the pleasure of working together in future. We take this opportunity of wishing Dr. Teng every success in his new post.
MR. BERNACCHI :- Mr. Chairman, had I known earlier of this I would, I feel, have gone out of my way to prepare a few considered words because this Council has been extremely fortunate in having Dr. Teng with us for some considerable time now, and we have found that he has not only been most co-operative with all members of Council but he has given most vital advice and ideas to this Council that have been put into operation and I am certain that we will miss him very much indeed from our Council table. I am indeed glad, as Mr. Fung has said, that he will not of course be leaving the Colony and I am sure he will in fact have a lot to do with us even though he is no longer on the Council.
I would also like to add that if anyone is to succeed him I am delighted that it is going to be Dr. Coombes, because Dr. Coombes also has been sitting with this Council's Select Committees for a long time. He has been a very valuable member in these Select Committees and I am sure that he will provide the continuum that is so necessary for any officer succeeding Dr. Teng as a Member of this Council.
On behalf of the Reform Club elected members and myself I wish Dr. Teng every success in his new office. (Applause).
MR. LI YIU BOR :- On behalf of Dr. Woo and Mr. Cheong-leen and myself I associate myself with your remarks and those of Mr. Brook Bernacchi on the impending departure of Dr. Teng from this Council, but not from this Colony. We have been working with Dr. Teng for two and a half years and we have always been very much assisted in our work in many of the Select Committees, so we are very sorry to miss him, but let us hope that he will be very successful and happy in his new field of activities.

ADJOURNMENT.
CHAIRMAN :- That concludes the business of this meeting. Council stands adjourned until Tuesday, 5th August at 4 p.m.
