WEST INDIES WIN FINAL
TEST BY AN
INNINGS & & 56 RUNS
London, Aug. 16.
The West Indies took full advantage of a drying pitch to beat England by an innings and 56 runs in the fourth and final Test at the Oval today and so gained the “rubber" with three matches to one.
Heavy overnight rain followed by warm sunshine, made the pitch treacherous and the changed conditions came at an unfortunate time for England.
In the first 100 minutes today the most exciting cricket of the series, was witnessed. England lost six wickets in that period for 62 runs and failed to save the follow on by only 10 runs after a tremendous struggle.
