FEW WOMEN ARE LEARNING TO FLY
By James Stuart
LONDON.
Few women, it seems, are learning to fly these days. Of 302 certificates issued this year by the Royal Aero Club, only six have gone to women pilots.
Such a certificate of confidence is not a licence to fly, and is not compulsory. "A" licences are issued by the Ministry of Civil Aviation, but most civil pilota, and plenty of Service pilots, too, have their Royal Aero Club certiflente, which still carries a lot of prestige.
Since the first certificatee Comet off the ground for was issued to Lord Brabazon first time on July 27, 1940,
