Cambridge, May 17.-Jack Dewes, the England lefthander, and David Sheppard, 21- year-old Sussex player, today put on 343 for the Cambridge University's first wicket against the West Indies-a world recoral partner ship against the West Indies and the highest in history for the Cambridge first wicket.

Dewes was at the wicket for At the close Cambridge had run up the big score of 507 for three. four hours and 40 minutes and hit 19 fours. Sheppard went on to make 227 in six hours and a quarter, with 21 fours.

The tiring West Indies bowlers, toiling on a featherbed wicket, came in for further cavaller treat- ment from G. Doggart, the Cambridge captain, who obtained nine fours in his 71 and helped Sheppard put on 144 in 90 minutes.
