This may be the year that the USA may lose the Davis Cup, that emblem of world tennis supremacy. There are increasing indications that Ted Schroeder may not play on the American team this year, and without Schroeder the Cup defenders would be in serious trouble.

The burly 30-year-old Californian is the only "big man with a big game". left in American amateur ranks. Pancho Gonzales, who joined with Schroeder to trounce Australia last year, is a professional now, and the other top-ranked American players such as Gardner Mulloy, Bill Talbert, Art Larsen, Earl Cochell, Sam Match, Ed Moylan and Herb Flam-are definitely in a different mould than Jack Kramer, Gonzales, Don Budge, Ellsworth Vines and Ill Tilden, all of them big men with a smashing powerful style.

In future no member will be able to arrange for his show to be televised without permission of the association. Before the per- mission can be obtained the views of each of the other 53 associate members will be canvassed.

A long road ended for National Servicemen and regular soldiers when the AA Command Boxing Cham- pionship finals were held at Shepherds Bush, London, on March 6. They had had to flight their way through unit, regimental and group championships, and the survivors were a worthy lot.
