"BOXING CAPITAL”
OF THE ORIENT
Singapore, Jan. 31.—Boxing officials striving to make Singapore the "boxing capital" of the Orient are seeing their efforts realised. With in the next two months a spate of fighters of international class and world ranking will be clashing in Singapore rings.
Biggest surprise to Singapore boxing circles is the ncceptance by Billy Thompson, British Lightweight Champion, of an offer from promoter Abdul Razak to fight in Singapore.
Thompson will be matches against Boy Brooks, Light, Middle and Welter- Ho weight Champion of the Orient, early in February at the welterweight limit. will later meet a second opponent to be chosen from Phol Prapadneng. Bantam and Featherweight Champion of Thailand, Bobby Njoo, Lightweight Champion of Indonesia, wad Speed Uubwaella, promising Filipino lightweight, all of whom are In Singapore.
