OFF ON MANOEUVRES—Getting under way as part of a giant U.S. Navy Task Force, the heavy U.S. aircraft-carrier Midway leaves the U.S. Naval Base at Norfolk, Virginia, for a month of operations in the North Atlantic. Nearly a hundred ships will participate in the manoeuvres intended to improve the combat readiness of the Atlantic Fleet. Results will show how prepared Navy is to ward off submarine attacks.

COMPLETELY ENGROSSED—As she sat with other youngsters, watching a rodeo show in New York, little Cornella Ingram, of Staten Island, New York, chewed her hat string in her excitement. The bucking broncos were just too exciting for a little girl who isn't used

HANDLESS PALS SHOW TRICKS-Harold Russell, who lost his hands during the war, shows little Tommy Herbert, in Cleveland, Ohio, how to produce a tune out of a music box with the hooks which he made famous in a motion picture. Russell, present National Commander of the AMVETS, was in the Oklo city on business and met the tot who is just learning to use new hands.
