ENGLAND SWAMPS IRELAND TO QUALIFY FOR THE WORLD CUP TOURNAMENT

Manchester, Nov.16.~England won a place in the finals of the World Cup soccer tournement in Brazil next year by swamping Ireland, by nine goals to two here today.

The winners and runners up in the home International tournament qualify for the World Cup finals. England and Scotland, each having beaten Ireland and Wales, meet next April to settle the British Championship.

England's victory today was their biggest success in an International match against any home country since 1899. Then, they beat Ireland at Sunderland by 13 goals to two,
