CHARITY SOCCER MATCH

PICK-UP CHINESE TEAM BEATS THE REST 5-4

There was a good deal of booing from the packed stands at the Caroline Hill Stadium yesterday when the crowd noticed after the game had started 15 minutes late that the Combined Chinese team against the Rest of the Colony in the charity soccer match was not as advertis- ed.

In 15 minutes a team was raised from among footballers who had turned up to watch the game; most of the "star" players who had originally been selected ́ being present but unavailable for the match, As It turned out, this pick-up team beat the Rest by the odd goni in nine.

However, this was not to be before the Rest had led 3-0 after some 15 minutes of play. Rallying around the leadership of the schoolboy star, Ko Fo-keung, the Chinese eleven knit themselves together into a very respectable team before half-time, when they had already levelled the score at three-ali.
