MEN AGAINST NATURE-Japanese workers carry straw bags of sand to a weakened wall along the Turumi River, between Tokyo and Yokohama, as more rains were expected after the typhoon. The damage was estimated at U.S.$70,000,000 and at least 48 persons were killed in the most violent storm to hit Japan since the war's end.
