he had been taken there by the Red Cross after being freed from Belsen.

Disdainfully his eyes swept the village houses around hin ns he described the comforts of workers' lives in Sweden. Once these houses had belonged to Arabs. Now they had been turned over to Jewish immi- grants.

LONDON.

IN quiet Bedford Square, dreaming away behind London's busy Tottenham Court Road, is the Royal Anthropological Institute.

"Anthropology-the study of man as - an animal" is too technical a definition to give the layman any idea of what a. fascinating study it is. In spite of this, an average of seventy-five people a day have visited their exhibition "Traditional Art Of The British Colonies" which is one of the many shows being held to mako Britain "colony-conscious" during Colonial Month.

This exhibition is small. Out of more than forty colonies, only a dozen: are represented, and of these, the West African colonies, and in particular, Nigeria, have the largest display.

Last week the Earl of Listowel, Minister of State for the Colonies, paid a

visit to the exhibition, and` was shown round by Mr- Fagg (who is responsible for the organisation), ne- companied by some of his colleagues from the Depart- ment of Ethnography of the British Museum.

Lord Listowel was particular- ly interested In the Yoruba section, and closely examined nearly all the exhibits. He asked Mr Fogg a great many questions nbout the ancient history of the pieces, and his nitention was distracted
