NO PROGRESS MADE IN Five
JEWISH-ARAB PEACE TALKS
Conference Six
Six Weeks Old
Lausanne, Switzerland, June 9.-The Arab-Jewish peace talks appeared bogged down deeper than ever on Thursday in Lausanne. The head of the Israeli delegation, Mr Walter Eytan, announced that he brought no new Jewish proposals from his recent consultations with the Israeli government which might have broken the three weeks old deadlock.
At the same time the four Arab delegations issued a veiled hint that they might walk out of the pence talks unless the Jews evacuated a strip of neutral territory in Jerusalem which they occu- pied on June 6.
Despite the lack of progress, a spokesman for the UN Pales- tine Concillation Commission said on Thursday night that the Com- mission members were "not quite as pessimistic as they might be in the circumstances,”

cannot say there is Dny optimism to speak of," the spokesman declared, "but there is no marked pessimism either.” "We shall continue to chlp away at the problem. We have no time limit."
Fund Bey Anigun,, head of the Lebanese delegation, told the Associated Press that the matter had been brought before the Conciliation Contmission "because conciliation
pre- [upposes goodwill and The arbitrary violation of neutral territory is not likely to facilitate discussions based on goodwill."
Neither Commission officials op- nor delegates on either side peared to regard a collapse of the conference.as imminent, but there was no indication of how or when the present deadlocks would be broken.-Associated Press. never
