Washington. June 2.-A group of United States Senators is seeking at allo- ention of Economic
Co- operation and Administrati tion funds for India.
On Japanese Reparations
Washington, June 2-State Department officials today strongly rejected the assertions that the United States policy of opposing any further Japanese reparations constitutes a violation of the Potsdam agreement or of the Far Eastern Commission's post-sur nder policy for the defeated Nipponesc.
Such charges have been levelled against the United States by Mr Carlos Romulo, Filippines delegate to the FEC. They also. have been implied in the criticism of American policy coming from the Chinese FEC delegate, Dr W. K. Lee.
The portion of the Potsdam of July 26, 1945, subscribed to by the United States, Runain, France and Britain which appears to be at issue in this disagreement, reads as follow:
apan shall be permitted to maintain such industries as will sustain her economy and permis the exaction of just reparations in the kind not those which would enable her to

Beirut, June 2-Attempts to patch up Internal Arab League differences have not yet shown any sign of success, according to usually well-informed observers in Beirut. The differences between Cairo and Baghdad have not yet been bridged, despite all the con- ciliation efforts made by Lebanese Premior. Riad el-Solh in the two capitals.
When the Syrian coup d'etat occurred, the Hashemito Baghdad-Amman axis thought it had acquired a powerful ally in Syrian leader Colonel Husni ol-Zaim.
But things did not materialise } the way the Hashemile had expected. El-Zuin' outspokenly denounced what he called the "foreign inspired projects of Greater Syria and the Ferille Crescent:"
El-Zaim's definite alignment against Amman and Daghdad re-established the old balance of Egypt, Syria, anf Saudi Arabin in one camp and Trans- jordan and Iraq in another, with Lebanon being "benevo~ lently neutral" but lcuning toward the former bloc.
